The Wealthy Writer

test

Stay Open to Possibilities

This is just a real quick post for today. Sometimes, when we are on a certain track with a certain idea in our head, we can ignore or completely miss opportunities because they don't seem to fit into our 'plan' or 'vision.'

This can be a big mistake.

You see, we live in a complex universe, capable of fulfilling your intention in an unlimited number of ways. So if you think things have to unfold in just one particular way, you have just shrunk all of 'infinite possibilities' down to your finite concept about life and what's possible.

Now why in the world would you want to do that?!

Live is an adventure, a mystery to be lived. When you set your intention to be a wealthy writer -- and to be one in a particular area, perhaps as a screenwriter or author -- you need to remain open to the myriad ways in which this intention can be fulfilled. That opportunity to write copy for an ad agency might not seem to fit with your idea of being a published fiction author. But if you're willing to at least investigate it, you might just meet someone who becomes a future partner in your purpose, someone who shares your vision, or who has a friend who's a publisher!

The point is you never know unless you stay open and are willing to sometimes check out those back alleys, talk to that stranger, go on that job interview that you don't think it right for you. There are so many stories of people who got their 'big break' because of something that was 'out of left field,' while they were working at their 'regular job.' Just recently I met someone on a job that I didn't think was right for me, that I thought was off my path...and it led to some potential opportunities to do exactly what I wanted to do! I just sat there, silently telling myself, "You see what happens, Derek, when you follow your own advice?"

So keep your eyes and mind open. Once you've set your intention or goal, keep a look out for open doors, invitations, signs, clues, offers, even if they don't seem connected at all...and then be willing to do a little investigation...and see what happens.

I'll see you at the next leg of this adventure!

Peace

Derek
